In interrogations, there’s an ironic term sometimes used for what the subject is NOT saying: a “tell.” The “tell” is often far more revealing than what the subject actually IS saying. So is there a tell on the border war b/w left and right?
It’s not in the major talking points, which are fully exhausted. The border states have had to absorb literally millions of migrants invited in under this administration. When interviewed, the migrants all say without hesitation that the border is fully open (or, in Kamala-speak, “secure”). Hundreds, perhaps thousands, have died en route, including many on American soil.
On the left, there seems to be only one response — to assert that this transport is “human trafficking.” They CAN’T complain too much about the migrants showing up on their manicured lawns in Martha’s Vineyard without sounding “anti-immigrant” or “anti-diversity.” So there is only that left — the trip itself must be a horror, a “weaponizing” of human beings (and, according to Ken Burns, akin to the Holocaust!).
Here, then, the tell. Ask yourself: If these talking heads truly wanted to spare migrants this soul-scarring bus trip — wouldn’t they be offering to fully fund the care of illegals already down in Texas? Take some of the pressure off towns like Del Rio and el Paso? Make things liveable and even desireable where the migrants already are?
Where is Newsom’s offer to spare the migrants the awful experience of being “kidnapped” to the Vineyard on an air conditioned bus? Where is the fundraiser from wealthy Vineyarders to build a paradise-in-the-desert? (solar-powered, of course). Where is Lori Lightfoot’s eight-figure moneygram to Greg Abbott?
If you really cared about the plight of these folks — who are, undoubtedly, deserving of empathy — and you wanted to spare them the trip, wouldn’t that be your offer?
Crickets.
The defense rests.
