So if anyone was wondering if the timing of the search warrant on NYC Mayor Eric Adams’s chief fundraiser was indeed a shot across the bow from the Biden administration… wonder no more.
Because Adams just returned fire.
To recap: While Mayor Adams, who has been quite noisy about the influx of migrants into NYC, was in Washington to meet at the White House regarding the issue, the home of Adams’s chief fundraiser was raided by Biden’s FBI.
Adams has since had his phones and iPad seized by the bureau, and lawyered up.
Now we begin to see what Adams — a former gang member in his youth — is made of. Yes, it’s subtle — but it’s there.
On Wednesday, for the first time in his administration, Adams announced he will be cutting the head count of the NYPD. And he is pinning the reason directly to… the migrant crisis.
According to The NY Post, Adams states that primarily due to the migrant influx into his city, the fiscal situation regarding the city is, “horrendous and it’s painful. It’s going to hurt our services a lot.”
As a result, Adams will reportedly be cutting the next police academy class — shorting the NYPD by roughly 1500 new recruits (for a department already short about 3,000 officers).
And to just to ensure his message is received: He will also cut migrant services by 20%.
Now, in the semaphore code of inter-governmental feuding, this is Adams setting up the following storyline: “Hey New Yorkers, don’t blame me. Blame Joe Biden.”
And it’s no accident Adams is doing this now. He needs that storyline for when he begins his re-election run next year. He knows he will have to answer for why his main campaign promise — i.e, to clean up the city — has not been accomplished.
Adams has also been unable to move Albany on the crippling bail and discovery laws that have so denigrated quality of life across New York (see below for further).
We should note, btw: Adams is right. The Biden administration has utterly abdicated its responsibility for keeping the American people safe by throwing open our southern border. They have no credibility on any security issues — including fentanyl (again, see below).
But that does not mean Eric Adams is in the clear regarding some serious issues coming at him from the President’s FBI.
So in sum: It’s on, big-time.
A Very Xi-Xi Affair
So Chinese President Xi blew into a newly sanitized San Francisco to meet with President Newsom Biden. After a reported four-hour closed-door meeting, the President emerged to take what was supposed to be a long round of questioning, but which was about 20 minutes of happy talk/mumbling.
Let’s make this quick: Anyone who thinks that the Chinese drug lords who pay up the chain to the Communist Party cadres while making millions from manufacturing fentanyl are going to stop doing it because Biden asked them to… must be John Kerry.
Fentanyl is a chemical formula. It is not dependent on the coca plant like cocaine, or the poppy like heroin. If you have the know-how, you can set up a lab anywhere.
Why do I get the sense that Mexico is about to have an influx of Chinese with PhD’s in chemistry?
And what — EXACTLY — did we give up for another empty promise from China?
Look for a Friday night news dump in the upcoming holiday season, explaining the genius of the Biden foreign policy team lightening the China sanctions.
Your narrator was once at a small policy event when John Kerry returned from Austria, having negotiated the Iran nuclear deal. In response to some pointed questioning, then-Secretary of State Kerry finally grew testy and barked at the room, “Look — we’re not naive!”
Right.
The Accidental Governor And The “Clean Slate” Bill
Lest anyone think that Biden’s border is the only factor in how diminished life is here in New York City, Governor Kathy Hochul, the accidental Governor and always a contender in the race to the bottom, pulls out ahead in the sprint to stupidity:
The referenced bill mandates that convicted criminals receive a “clean slate” — that is, an expunged criminal record. The law wipes the slate clean after three years for misdemeanors, eight years for most felonies.
What the law ignores: nearly all cases adjudicated in our system are plea deals. So the incentive to “plea down” — already great — will be greater than ever. And activist prosecutors like Alvin Bragg will be only too happy to go along, handing out misdemeanor pleas like candy.
So employers, landlords, credit lenders… none will have the ability to ascertain if the person applying to them is a criminal. Or even a chronic offender.
So if you’re a serial mortgage fraudster? Plea to a misdemeanor, and you’ve got a clean record after three years — allowing you to do it again. A kid-toucher? Same.
Like bail reform, discovery reform, parole reform, Raise the Age, legalized weed, etc, this is all courtesy of the below brain trust in Albany:
Leader of the NYS Senate, Andrea Stewart-Cousins
Leader of the NYS Assembly, Carl Heastie
NYS Governor, Kathy Hochul
These three stooges own current conditions in New York — the state losing more citizens by percentage than any other in the nation.
And here’s the genius who sponsored the bill:
NYS Assemblywoman Catalina Cruz
If it’s true we get the government we deserve… we must’ve done something really awful at some point.
Why Not Indict?
As your narrator wrote here in The Washington Times, I cannot understand why a case against the leaders of Hamas has not been brought here in America.
Hamas is a designated terrorist organization, killed 32 American citizens, and holds at least 10 American citizens hostages. That certainly gives us reason — and jurisdiction.
Now comes word that the Hamas leaders living in luxury in Qatar, a U.S. ally, are worth some $11bn. As America is always the largest funders of anything international, it’s not hard to figure where most of that money came from.
But in light of all that — and my questioning the situation — a former intelligence associate offers the following theory: Is the U.S. not seeking to indict and extradite the Hamas leadership because they know too much?
Meaning: Were they American assets who played us?
The truth is, there are “sources” in the intelligence world, and there are sources. Might the Hamas leaders have been “soft” assets of the U.S, who we allowed to get rich… and who decided they no longer needed us?
Note that there’s no evidence for this — at least that I’ve seen. But I have to admit — it would explain a lot.
Cold Case Department
Rabbi Samantha Woll, found stabbed to death in front of her house. Update: Sounds like Detroit detectives will be presenting the case to the Detroit D.A. — and so likely, a grand jury. Seems to be a mostly circumstantial case, involving someone “close to” the rabbi — tough to prove on a murder. Stay tuned.
Paul Kessler, reportedly clubbed on the head with megaphone, resulting in his fatally hitting his head on the ground. Update: Police in Ventura County, California are reportedly “conducting interviews” and “reviewing footage.” In light of the fact that it was a crowded demonstration: Do we need video of everything these days?
Alec Baldwin, whose case, according to this report, is about to go to the grand jury. If they indict Baldwin on the involuntary manslaughter charge, he will have to surrender for arrest — perhaps as soon as next week. He faces up to 18 months if convicted.
Matt Petgrave, the hockey player accused in the on-ice death of Adam Johnson. As we advocated here, an arrest for Manslaughter was justified — which was the charge the London Met went with. It’s the right call.
And finally…
In solidarity with the fantastic illustrator Ramirez, we present here (as news reporting) the cartoon The Washington Post apologized for.
The fact that the circumstances that inspired the cartoon are perfectly factual apparently made no impression on the “journalists” at the paper still dining out on Watergate (the most overblown scandal in U.S. history).
Keep speaking truth-to-power, fellas. What brave souls you are!
