So this election seems to be coalescing into a battle over the three “I’s” — inflation, immigration, and Israel — with each of these standing in for myriad, related issues.
We start with immigration, a proxy for general issues of public safety. These are issues about which this space is well-sourced and experienced, so we reiterate: let’s not allow history to be re-written. Kamala was indeed given a “border czar” role. She didn’t even try, and the results speak for themselves.
She also was a devout defunder, supported bailing out violent recidivists who were burning down American cities during the 2020 Summer of Love, and she has yet to repudiate this and other groups like (the fraudulent) BLM whose answer to every violent crime remains “institutional racism.”
None of this is hyperbole.
Her new Vice President selection, Tim Walz, is carved from the same antifa-loving tree. Walz’s unconscionable delay in summer 2020 in deploying the National Guard — an agency he’d infamously been a member of — helped Minneapolis burn all-but unopposed.
Maybe he did it to please his wife, who states that she “left the window open” so she could smell the burning because it was a “touchstone of what was happening.”
At least 25 Americans were killed in the post-George Floyd riots; cities suffered billions in damage.
This is the wife who also feels that recidivist criminals should get, “as many chances as they need.” Right. That’ll work.
Now, I recognize that this is Walz’s wife, not him. So at best, he might be guilty of marrying a nincompoop. But if the left is so adamant about imputing Justice Alito’s wife’s actions and opinions to her spouse — or those of Justice Thomas’s wife to him — well, then.
Forget family for a moment, then, and let’s look at Walz’s Lieutenant Governor — essentially, his statewide second-in-command. Here’s Peggy Flanagan’s take on trans children:
Make no mistake: this is a legal issue. Children are recognized in the law as unable to consent to sex, for example, because, by law, they lack the capacity. Yet apparently it’s okay for them to decide to irrevocably alter their bodies — in some cases, before puberty.
And of course, both Kamala and Walz are avowed “sanctuary state” advocates, extending deportation immunity (and full medical benefits) to even murderers and gang-bangers arrested on state charges.
As for Israel: Whatever your position on Gaza, as we’ve covered before, this issue matters because of the violence and disorder visited here upon our cities and universities by Hamas apologists. These apologists control a significant wing of the Democrat party today; this is almost certainly why Kamala made the boneheaded decision to bypass Josh Shapiro (an Israel supporter) as her VP pick. (Pennsylvania is a must-win for Kamala in November, and Shapiro — a popular governor there — would certainly have helped her).
And there’s also the fact that, in her heart, Kamala probably agrees more with the Hamas wing of the Democrat party than the more moderate Shapiro wing.
All this will matter soon. The pro-Hamasniks will be out in full-force during the DNC, and even for the Fall semester on campus. Kamala will own that as we head to November 5th.
As for Inflation: Given the authors, this is the last space you should look to for financial analysis. So… punt.
Speaking Of The DNC…
If I know the Chicago Hamas crowd is gearing up for some serious attack-and-occupy, you can bet the Dems and Chicago’s Mayor know it. So I actually think we’ll see some real enforcement there for once. Mayor Johnson and DA Kim Foxx — she of the Jussie Smollett corruption — will have to support Chicago PD this time; otherwise, the optic of riots in the streets could seriously hurt Kamala’s case.
Proof? Former Police Commissioner of New York, Los Angeles, and Boston, Bill Bratton has noted that Chicago leaders are all in favor of jettisoning the city’s ShotSpotter technology — a move which Bratton decries (note: he was previously on the company’s board).
For background: ShotSpotter is audio technology that picks up and reports the sound of gunshots. It is generally deployed to high-crime areas — which naturally results in the “institutional racism” cries we noted above.
To be clear: the technology cuts police response times, frees up 9-1-1 resources, and helps crime analysts pinpoint trouble spots by capturing even gunshots not called in to the police (which is the majority). The technology also has the added benefit of actually working as-advertised.
Chicago was all set to eliminate ShotSpotter due to what Mayor Johnson termed the over-policing of black neighborhoods; then the city was awarded the DNC. So Mayor Johnson has delayed discarding the program until… after the DNC.
At which point, we suppose, the passive microphones of ShotSpotter will be deemed “racist” once again.
Migrant Crime, Ad Nauseum
An important recent article in The New York Post — fast becoming the best genuine investigative media outlet we have (see Biden, Hunter and laptop) asks the question: How high is the migrant crime rate, really?
You can read it yourself by clicking the headline below. But there’s a related point we’d like to raise: is this really the correct question?
To us, the notion consistently proffered by the left to assuage American’s safety concerns — that most migrants are peaceable — is actually irrelevant.
The Post’s assertion that we need transparency on migrant crime numbers is of course accurate. But recognize that if even 1% of the roughly 20 million unvetted migrants this nation has ingested during the Biden-Harris administration is a murderer, rapist, or gang-banger, then we have imported 200,000 hardened criminals. Many of whom see it as their duty to shoot at police.
And in light of the continued targeting of women by migrants — with rapes, murders, and human trafficking — where are the feminist groups?
Maybe if we pointed out that Venezuela is almost uniformly Catholic — and therefore most Tren de Aragua gangsters are likely anti-abortion — some women’s groups might finally speak up?
And finally…
Adventures in policing, 2024:
This is a fairly typical police interaction in New York these days. Guaranteed this perp was released in about an hour. (No exaggeration).
You all have it wrong. This election has become a singular focus and nothing more: preventing The Orange Man from returning to office. Much like the previous Biden vs. Trump contest, the priority is defeating Trump, regardless of the merits of the candidates themselves. In the last election, Biden's personal shortcomings didn't deter his candidacy; he was the preferred choice for many due to his recognition and acceptance. All he has to do was stay in his basement.
Now, the current election appears to be driven by a similar motivation. Despite various attempts to undermine Trump, including extreme measures of assassination (helped by Iran), none have been successful. Kamala Harris, whose campaign website remains largely empty of any ideas or platform weeks after her announcement, is essentially a figurehead. Her team largely consists of former Obama staffers, reflecting his continuing influence behind the scenes.
The media's portrayal of Harris as a messianic figure, especially given her potential to replace an incapacitated president, is designed to sway public opinion. This narrative, coupled with years of negative framing of Trump, has led to surprising polling results, such as higher public trust in Harris on economic matters.
Republicans may focus on traditional issues like the economy and border security, but the current political climate is less about these issues and more about defeating Trump at any cost. I foresee that Biden might transfer the presidency to Harris after the convention. He would be a hero in the eyes of Democrats. Harris will now be the incumbent. To secure crucial support from the Jewish community, Harris might take a strong stance or even military action against Iran. Meanwhile, Trump remains focused on substantive issues like the border and the economy, not realizing that the main objective for his opponents is simply to keep him out of office by any means necessary. None of it makes sense and it shouldn't. It's not about what you think.
No. For my family it's: Invasion, Perversion, and Abortion. et al
