Rabbi Meir Kahane was a frequent guest at SUNY Binghamton. He was always steering trouble. He was the organizer of the Jewish Defense League known to have been involved in bombings in NYC. He served in the Israeli Knesset. His killer was a janitor at the World Trade Center. The 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center was perpetrated by a relative of Kahane’s killer.
THAT I never heard -- and I know that story well. Not sure I ever heard that Yusef and Kahane's killer were relatives. Wow. You really can draw a direct line from the Kahane shooting to 9/11. The Cell does that better than anything else I've seen. I actually talked to a number of people involved in the investigations, as part of my old job. Also worked with a few. The Cell is accurate.
As I recall, Yusef engaged in a shoot out as he was leaving the hotel. He attempted to carjack a taxi when a US Postal Inspector engaged and shot Yusef.
There is much more to the story. A team of Port Authority Detectives searched the bombing site and recovered the vin plate of the van that was the source of the explosion. 6 people were killed including a pregnant woman.
Yeah PA Task Force cop found the VIN on a piece of the manifold or something. My old man was there -- was heading for the Chambers Street E train. He missed the 1994 bombing by about 10 minutes. I guess every New Yorker has a story like that.
