Paul, I almost always appreciate your print and broadcast commentary, but this cartoon has me confused and a little worried. Is the point that “the Department” is so foolish as to reward the mere appearance of “wokeness” with a promotional advantage? Is the point that some cops are willing to sacrifice themselves on the altar of wokeness simply to get promoted? And is this really how we want those who actually do transition to view us as LEOs - that we consider a decision to be transgendered as something one does flippantly, in this case to just “get ahead?” That may not be the best message we can send.
OMG I missed that! Lol. The program that we use to generate cartoons is cutting-edge AI and is still, apparently, imperfect.... I should've caught that and fixed it!
Paul, here is an item you might mention in the future. I spent around 30 years in federal law enforcement and there is no equivalent of a Sargeant's Exam for promotion. Special Agents get promoted by who they know and what buzz words they use in applying for a promotion.
As an Assistant Special Agent in Charge, I found that one supervisor did not even understand the basics of how a Federal Grand Jury worked. He was criticizing one of his agents who requested travel to present information to a grand jury in a city outside of commuting distance. The supervisor did not know that the elements of the crime had to be presented to the grand jury that had jurisdiction for the offense. If the investigation showed that a criminal activity occurred solely in Dallas, that is where the indictment should be sought, not in Miami, etc.
Keep writing great articles. Also, you do a great job offering a LE view of events when you appear on Fox. Take care and best wishes. Jim
Amazing. I've heard this from so many of the feds I worked with.... Good people who just didn't know "the right" people.... As blunt and imperfect an instrument a written exam is, it is at least an objective metric of sorts.... I recall agents I knew who felt they were penalized for "rocking the boat" by pursuing cases too hard.... And of course, who did not check the correct DEI boxes. Which is not fair to anyone and undermines trust and morale, no matter what demographic a person is buttonholed into.

Why does the skinny officer have a third hand?

Good eye. No one else caught that.
Excellent cartoon.
